Larger firms buy small, authentic companies, the small companies that want to keep doing what they do, and don't want to be bought by larger firms, struggle to compete, eventually they disappear. My view on this phenomenon is displayed in my first book called: 'bus stop'. For decades, sons and daughters kept alive the bus company started by their mothers and fathers.
